Multiple Affected as Rough Air Impacts Delta Plane Arriving in Sydney, Australia

Multiple passengers and crew have been injured after a Delta Airlines flight from LA to Sydney, Australia encountered turbulence this past Friday.

The flight, numbered 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it touched down at the Sydney airport, a company official stated. A number of the onboard staff were injured.

Emergency medical services reported they evaluated five patients, and took a trio to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised spinal discomfort and head pain. The injured spanned from their 30s up to the 70s.

It is the most recent case of planes experiencing turbulence, with researchers indicating that shifting climate patterns is a key driver.

There were nearly 250 travelers and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson added, adding that the plane landed "without further incident" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.

Paramedics reported they were alerted just only 180 seconds prior to the plane arrived, and response teams were ready and waiting at the airport.
