Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
